About XAT
What is XAT?
Xavier Aptitude Test, or XAT, is conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur on behalf of XAMI members for admission consideration at XLRI and other institutions that accept XAT scores. Each institute runs its own programme application, eligibility and selection process.
XAT 2027 registration opened on 15 July 2026 and is scheduled to close on 6 December. The examination is scheduled for 3 January 2027 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The official XAT 2027 site has not yet published a full detailed section-by-section pattern document. This guide therefore labels the official XAT 2026 instructions as a planning reference rather than silently presenting them as confirmed for 2027.

XAT Application Process and Fees
Official application route and fee details
Register through xatonline.in, verify the email and mobile details, complete identity, education and work-experience fields, upload the requested photograph and signature and pay through the integrated gateway.
Selecting XLRI programmes is an additional step and attracts ₹200 per programme. Applying for XAT alone does not automatically apply to every XAT-accepting institution.
Download the e-receipt and completed form. XAT warns candidates not to act on fake admission or management-quota offers.

A syllabus-first preparation route
- Start with a diagnostic across verbal, decision making and quantitative-data skills.
- Practise XAT decision-making sets separately because the section is unlike a generic reasoning paper.
- Use the official 2026 timing and penalty only as a provisional mock template until the 2027 instructions are released.
- Maintain a separate calendar for every target institute application and shortlist.
