About SSC MTS
What is SSC MTS?
SSC MTS recruits Multi-Tasking (Non-Technical) Staff, while the same notice also covers Havaldar posts in CBIC and CBN. Both routes use the two-session computer-based examination; only Havaldar candidates proceed to the Physical Efficiency and Physical Standard Test.
For the 2025 cycle, SSC replaced the notice's original calendar with a later schedule starting 4 February 2026. The examination stage had been conducted, but an official result notice was not located on the SSC notice board by 2 August 2026.
Final MTS merit is based on Session II after qualifying Session I. Havaldar selection additionally requires the qualifying PET/PST and post eligibility.

The MTS and Havaldar 2025 application, fee and correction windows are closed.
Choose MTS and Havaldar preferences only after checking age, physical standards and state or zone requirements in the notice.

SSC MTS and Havaldar Syllabus Overview
Subjects and stages in the official syllabus
- Session I: Numerical and Mathematical Ability; Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving.
- Session II: General Awareness; English Language and Comprehension.
- Havaldar candidates should also prepare for the notified walking test and physical measurements; these are qualifying, not written subjects.
Numerical ability
Integers, arithmetic operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio, averages, work, time, distance and basic geometry or data.
Reasoning
Alpha-numeric series, coding, analogy, directions, similarities, differences, problem solving and non-verbal reasoning.
General awareness
Social studies, general science, environmental awareness and current events at the matriculation level described by SSC.
English
Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms, correct usage and simple comprehension.
Havaldar fitness
Train specifically for the notified walk and confirm measurements; gym performance does not replace the official PET/PST standard.

The result should identify candidates shortlisted under the applicable MTS and Havaldar rules. Havaldar CBE qualification is not final selection because PET/PST remains.

A syllabus-first preparation route
- Treat Session I as a qualification hurdle but practise it under its separate 45-minute limit; both sessions are mandatory.
- Give most score-improvement analysis to Session II because MTS merit is based on that session and wrong answers lose marks.
- Build matriculation-level arithmetic and English foundations before increasing mock frequency.
- Havaldar candidates should train progressively for the walk and confirm the notified physical standards early, not after the CBE result.

- Use the current notice and detailed syllabus as the exam boundary.
- Use NCERT or equivalent matriculation mathematics and science texts for weak foundations.
