About CUET-UG

What is CUET-UG?

Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate, or CUET UG, is NTA's common entrance examination for undergraduate admissions at participating universities. It provides test scores; each university still controls programme eligibility, subject combinations, registration, merit or allocation and final admission.

The 2026 examination was initially scheduled across 11–31 May, but official notices addressed rescheduling and technical issues, including re-scheduled candidates on 6–7 June. NTA published the result and score card on 23 June 2026.

Candidates can choose up to five test subjects from the 2026 set of 13 languages, 23 domain subjects and General Aptitude. Subject selection should begin with the exact programme rules of every target university, because a high score in the wrong combination may not be usable for that programme.

CUET UG Application Process and Fees

Official application route and fee details

The CUET UG 2026 examination form is closed. A future applicant should first list target programmes and universities, record their required CUET subject combination, and only then choose up to five test subjects in the NTA form.

Complete identity and Class X/XII details, select permitted subjects and cities, upload compliant images and pay through the official portal. Retain the application number and confirmation page.

After NTA publishes the score card, apply separately to each target university. CUET registration does not automatically create a university admission application.

CUET UG Eligibility Criteria

Qualification, age and other requirements

Qualifying examination

Class XII passed or appearing

  • Candidates who had passed Class XII or an equivalent examination, or were appearing in 2026, could take CUET UG under NTA's broad condition.
  • A university may restrict passing year, board status, subjects or minimum marks for a programme.
  • Final admission remains subject to producing the required result and documents.

Age

No NTA exam age limit

  • NTA did not impose a general age limit to appear in CUET UG 2026.
  • A university or programme may apply an age condition under its own rules.
  • The university's admission bulletin controls that programme-level question.

Test-subject combination

Programme-specific

  • Candidates could select up to five subjects, but each programme specifies which language, domain or aptitude tests it accepts.
  • Some programmes require a CUET domain that the candidate studied in Class XII; others apply different combinations.
  • Check all target universities before locking the NTA subject selection.

University admission

Separate registration

  • A CUET score card does not automatically enter a candidate into a university merit or allocation list.
  • The candidate must apply to each target university and satisfy its category, programme and document rules.
  • Use each university's own admission portal and notices for deadlines.

  • General Aptitude covers general knowledge, current affairs, general mental ability, numerical ability and logical and analytical reasoning under the official syllabus.

CUET UG 2026 Result and Score Card

NTA published the result on 23 June 2026

Published

Current status: The CUET UG 2026 score card is available through the official NTA route.

Check the identifying details and subject-wise result information and preserve the score card for every target university application.

NTA's result is not a university admission offer. Universities create their own merit, allocation or counselling process under their programme rules.

CUET UG 2026 University Admission

Apply separately to each target university

Upcoming

Current status: University registration, programme choices and allocation schedules are separate from the NTA exam calendar.

Confirm that the tests taken satisfy the programme combination, then complete the university's own registration and preference process by its deadline.

Programme eligibility, category and seat rules, tie-breaks and document requirements vary. Use the university's prospectus as the final authority.

CUET UG Preparation Strategy

A syllabus-first preparation route

  1. Begin with university programme rules, then prepare only the language, domain and aptitude papers that preserve the intended admission options.
  2. Download every selected subject's official syllabus and map it to a compact revision plan rather than using one generic CUET syllabus.
  3. Practise each paper in 60 minutes with all 50 questions compulsory, including the +5/−1 marking rule.
  4. For domain tests, revise core NCERT definitions, examples, diagrams and applications, then use timed mixed questions.
  5. For language tests, practise passage selection and evidence-based answers; for General Aptitude, combine fundamentals with short timed sets.
  6. Track every target university's separate registration and document calendar while preparing for the exam.

CUET UG Books and Study Material

  • Use the NTA bulletin and official syllabus PDF for each selected test as the governing references.
  • Use current NCERT Class XII material for domain subjects where the official syllabus aligns with it, supported by one question source you can revise.
  • For languages and General Aptitude, use official-format timed practice rather than large unrelated competitive-exam compilations.

CUET UG Previous Question Papers

Official question-paper resources

Use official question resources for the exact selected subjects. A General Aptitude paper does not substitute for a domain-paper mock, and language practice should match the selected language.

Attempt each test as a separate 60-minute unit and review both accuracy and question pacing.
