What is UPSC IES/ISS?
IES and ISS share one UPSC notification and common General English and General Studies papers, but they are separate services with different postgraduate eligibility and subject papers.

IES education
Postgraduate economics qualification
- Postgraduate degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics or Econometrics.
ISS education
Statistics qualification
- Bachelor's degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as a subject, or a Master's degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics.
Age
21–30 years
- Measured on 1 August 2026, with notified relaxations.

No. They share an examination notice but have different qualifications, subject papers, vacancies and service allocation.

The 2026 notice states that a candidate may compete for one service for which eligible.
